XRF results:
We use an XRF (X-ray fluorescence) analyzer. It does not damage the jewelry—it simply shines a safe beam onto the surface and measures what elements are present and in what percentages. This allows us to confirm whether the chain is really 18k gold. The test showed about 75% gold, which is right where we expect 18k to be. The balance was mostly copper and silver, which are common alloy metals used in 18k gold chains. Small variations (for example, 74% or 76%) are normal and within tolerance. XRF measures the surface layer of the chain. If the piece is solid gold, the reading reflects the true composition. If the piece were plated, the test might only pick up the plating metal, so we always look at the numbers closely to be sure.
