A high karat gold extender of my own design: 22 carat gold curb links with solid 18 carat French dog clips at both ends.

About the Piece
I designed this because I wanted a high karat extender and could not find one. Most extenders are made in 14 carat gold, which is the sensible choice and also the reason they never quite match a 22 carat chain.
The curb links are 22 carat gold and semi hollow, which is what keeps a piece this size wearable rather than heavy. The color is the deep saturated yellow that only comes at 22 carat.
The dog clips are solid 18 carat gold rather than 22, and that was a deliberate choice. 18 carat is harder, so the clips take the wear and keep whatever you have attached safe. Both swivel, and at 22 mm by 8 mm they are big enough to handle easily and to take a substantial link.
A clip at each end is what makes it flexible. Attach it to one end of a necklace to add four and a half inches, join two chains together, hook both ends to the same chain to make a lariat, or hang charms off either end.
Styling
Use it to bring a choker down to a collarbone length, to join two shorter chains into one long one, or as a charm carrier in its own right. Because it is high karat throughout it sits alongside antique gold without looking newer or paler than what it is attached to.
Authentication & Metal Verification
This piece has been tested using XRF (X-Ray Fluorescence) analysis to confirm gold purity and authenticity. Both the 22 carat curb links and the 18 carat dog clips have been tested. We will provide the purchaser with a copy of the XRF report for their records. This is an extra level of transparency rarely available with antique jewelry.
